Evensong

For those of you that don't know, during the school year some of our family (it varies from month to month) sing in the Evensong choir at St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church under the direction of Dr. Jim Rightmyer. We also have some friends, the Andersons, who sing in the group as well. There are some truly wonderful musicians in the group, both singers and accompanists, and it is a joy to lift our voices in praise of our God.

The Evensong service is the first Sunday night of each month. Throughout the past three years all of our children have sung at one time or another. This past month was only Patty, Hannah Beth, and myself. Here is a pic of the choir.

As you can see, St. Francis has a beautiful Sanctuary, not only visually but aurally as well. The sound from the choir rolls up, skirts along the ceiling, and drops on the congregation like jewels from heaven. I'll try to post a video of the February Evensong for you to enjoy.

BTW, an Evensong service is a sung prayer service. Except for the Scripture readings everything is set to music.
