Progress

Well, we finally made it to Ikea in North Cincinnati when they had some of this butcherblock in stock. Patty and I went up there in December to visit Ikea for the first time and really liked most of the styles they had. Some are still a little too modern (read 'retro 50's and 60's mod) for our tastes. However, our tastes seem to be a-changin'. I think we are ready for something clean and simple.

Well, here's a picture of the butcherblock we bought today. It's 25 inches by 8 feet, solid beech and the cost? $59! I'm not sure I could buy scrap beech and glue up a piece for that price.

This will serve as the countertop for the computer desk/wall and for the divider between the kitchen and the foyer/laundry area.

Only took 3 months to buy, now we'll see how long it takes to get it installed. Thank goodness our spring break is next week!

How do they grow up so fast?

Most of us made it to the first day of Hannah's vb tournament. We dined at Ramsey's in Lexington-highly recommended by several people. The food was very good; probably the best French Fries in the world, but alas, David had none-he's given up French Fries for Lent.

Here's a great picture Hannah Beth took with her new camera.

Evensong

For those of you that don't know, during the school year some of our family (it varies from month to month) sing in the Evensong choir at St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church under the direction of Dr. Jim Rightmyer. We also have some friends, the Andersons, who sing in the group as well. There are some truly wonderful musicians in the group, both singers and accompanists, and it is a joy to lift our voices in praise of our God.

The Evensong service is the first Sunday night of each month. Throughout the past three years all of our children have sung at one time or another. This past month was only Patty, Hannah Beth, and myself. Here is a pic of the choir.

As you can see, St. Francis has a beautiful Sanctuary, not only visually but aurally as well. The sound from the choir rolls up, skirts along the ceiling, and drops on the congregation like jewels from heaven. I'll try to post a video of the February Evensong for you to enjoy.

BTW, an Evensong service is a sung prayer service. Except for the Scripture readings everything is set to music.

State Champs!!!

Hannah Beth and her volleyball team from the Christian Educational Consortium won their division at the KCSAA state tournament! WooHoo!! Here's Hannah with their trophy.

I'm pretty sure this was an ace.

HAIL TO THE VICTORS!!!!
